Designing Reading/Writing Tasks & Sequences
for the Heritage Learner Classroom
Andi Hernando recently finished her MA in Spanish as a Second or Bilingual Language at Michigan State University. She is originally from Catamarca, Argentina. She has taught English in Argentina and Spanish in different institutions in the US, and she was also the creator of the Spanish Teletandem program at Michigan State.
As of Fall 2022, she joined the Spanish Linguistics Ph.D. program at Georgetown University.
Dr. Khanh Le earned her Ph.D. in multicultural and bilingual education from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Regis University.
She specializes in the study of the cultural competencies that are critical for teachers to properly serve students from traditionally underserved populations and she comes from a Vietnamese heritage background.
Jade Jia Ying Wu received her Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages degree from Teachers College, Columbia University, and Beijing Language and Culture University in 2016.
She is the author of four language learning books, Learn to Speak Taishanese 1, Learn to Speak Cantonese 1 & 2, and Learn to Speak Mandarin 1.
She also hosts several podcasts, such as “Learn Cantonese Daily,” “Learn Taishanese Daily,” and “Cantonese Diaspora.” Jade comes from a Taishanese heritage background and, in her free time, enjoys hiking, jogging, and learning other languages.
