Tracy Quan

Tracy Quan is an assistant professor of Spanish linguistics at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she teaches courses on language, linguistics, and pedagogy to mixed classrooms.

Her research interests include language, ideology, and identity; study abroad; and critical pedagogies. She identifies as a Cantonese heritage speaker with family history in El Salvador, which has influenced her Spanish language learning and teaching trajectory.

Miguel Ortega

Miguel Ortega was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado in a Chicana family with roots in northern New Mexico.

Miguel has been teaching Spanish in Aurora for the past seven years, recently beginning to teach the Spanish for Heritage Speakers class.

Irina Kogel

Irina Kogel is Lecturer in Russian at Davidson College, where she teaches the Russian language at all levels.

Born in Belarus, Irina has spent the better part of 20 years trying to understand her own experiences as a heritage speaker, with the aim of empowering heritage and L2 students.
